Who we are
Co-Founder & CEO
Jason Cass has been in the insurance business since 2002. He started as a producer for an agency in Southern Illinois, then moved to another agency in his hometown in 2004.
After realizing the change and changes in the industry in 2010, he decided to start his own agency, JDC Insurance, to accept and meet that change. His agency is a team of five: Andrea Cass, his wife, his assistant Lori, and two new producers.
Jason runs a virtual insurance agency from his office in Centralia, Illinois. His assistant lives 984 miles away in Georgetown, CO. Jason believes that the agent of the future will look like him and his agency. Jason Cass has been a CIC since 2009 and looks forward to acquiring his CPCU designation.
He was a committee member for the Illinois Young Agents Committee (YAC) from 2003-2009, was named Illinois Young Agent of the Year in 2005, and appointed to Chairman of the YAC of IL in 2006. He served as Co-Chair of IL YAC until 2009.
He then was appointed to the National Young Agents Committee for the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (Big I). In 2011, he was appointed to Chairman of the National YAC and served that position until 2013. He is the first YA of IL to hold this position of Chairman of the National Young agents for the Big I in their 115 year history.
Jason built his agency on social and digital marketing and branding. He truly runs a social and digital business and his agency still serves as the laboratory where everything is tested before clients get to execute the methodology. He is the author of “Customer Service is Just Foreplay,” an Amazon Best-Seller which talks about the consumer of today and how the independent insurance industry must meet the realities of today’s consumer demands and expectations in the digital space. He travels nationally for speaking engagements that cover marketing strategies that impact our industry today.
Having come from a creative and media centered background (musician, college radio host, podcaster) Joey knew he was going to have to start creating content to keep his agency relevant moving forward. Fresh off a failed attempt to not join the family business he was burnt out creating content and ignored his instincts for the first year and half he was in the business.
After learning the finer points of insurance and sales, Joey finally started combining his previous passion with his new career. That combination has gotten the attention of people around the industry as he was named one of the “12 Best Young Agents in 2013.”
Joey is also the host of the Insurance in Your Words podcast, which is part of the GROW Podcast Network, where he talks with agents who are living and breathing insurance everyday and struggling to figure out where this industry is going and what they can do to stay ahead.
When Joey isn’t talking about insurance on the internet, or helping clients he’s probably spending time with his family. In other rare spare moments he could be found obsessing over one of the local Cleveland sports teams, struggling to stay awake late enough to play video games or trying to remember how to play the bass guitar.
Like many who enter and make lifetime careers in the insurance industry, Anna also happened to “stumble” into the opportunity of working for the independent insurance industry. She’s been with Grow since 2013 and manages its programs using her background in marketing and operations to execute the strategic direction of Grow’s founder. Since working for Grow, she’s been inspired, and has developed an incessant love for brand strategy, copywriting, and small business success.
She received her BS in International Business Administration from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, California in 2002, and worked in the financial markets industry as a registered specialist for 3 years before teaching English in Brazil. She has since received her Masters in Cultural Studies from Goldsmiths, University of London where she explored themes in “financial capital and postmodernity,” and continues to chase her passion for writing, language, culture, and community.
She is also a mother of a brilliant 4-year old (going on 14) daughter, and when she’s not obsessing over the details in her work, you can catch her enjoying music festivals, frequenting boutiques and outdoor markets, and jet setting to tropical weather; all while drinking coffee. Her Bookmarks repertoire includes Copyblogger, Juxtupoz Mag, AgencyNation, Grammar Girl, Oakulture, The New Yorker, and Quartz.
Jill joined the marketing world five years ago after graduating from California State University, Fresno, with a degree in Mass Communication and Journalism. After gaining experience in the area of non profits and cutting her teeth in the fast-paced advertising agency world, her mission to help small businesses and non profits create strategic digital campaigns remains true today.
Her passion is to collaborate with business owners to tell THEIR best story and find the right audience that aligns with their brand. Through the use of digital media — including social media, blogging and paid advertising — Jill creates personable and engaging content that tells a story, is informative, useful and share-worthy. This is exactly where she fits in at the Grow Program; Jill works to create custom and engaging content revolving around the insurance industry for Grow Program client blogs.
When Jill isn’t putting her creative mind to work, she can be found galavanting around Big Sur with her trusted yellow-lab companion, hiking with friends or spending time in the saddle with her one true love – horses.
